SWFO

Astrocaria has partnered up with Mitchell Vantage Systems to support Space Weather Follow-On (SWFO).

SWFO is a NASA mission focused on monitoring and studying space weather, specifically the solar wind and its impact on Earth.

Space weather refers to the conditions on the Sun and in the solar wind, magnetosphere, ionosphere, and thermosphere that can influence the performance and reliability of space-borne and ground-based technological systems and endanger human life or health. These conditions can include solar flares, geomagnetic storms, and other solar phenomena.

The SWFO mission is designed to improve space weather forecasting and our understanding of the Sun’s influence on space and Earth. It aims to provide critical data for monitoring solar activity and predicting space weather events that can affect satellite communications, navigation systems, power grids, and more.

The mission consists of multiple components, including instruments on board both geostationary and Lagrange point (L1) satellites, which allow for continuous monitoring of solar activity and its effects on Earth’s space environment.
